Spotlight and shadows

Survivorship bias makes us obsess over the winners, often at the expense of those who didn’t make it.

On their graduation day, five friends declared, “Someday, I will be an entrepreneur and build an empire.”

Each embarked on their own quests, driven by ambition and maybe a little too much caffeine. Years flew by, and the group reunited.

Only two had built businesses worthy of the empire title. The others? Well, their empires crumbled even before the first brick could even be laid.

Now whose stories are we most likely to hear about? Undoubtedly, those who reached the top. We’re all ears for tales of triumph, hungry for that secret sauce of success. Meanwhile, the flavors of failure simmer quietly in the background, rarely served up for public consumption.

While every journey has valuable lessons, we tend to spotlight the successes. The failures, though equally inspiring, remain in the shadows, their stories rarely told.
