Crumpled

Here’s a simple story I’ve read several times and figured worth sharing.

Once there was a professor who showed a money bill to his students in a class. He asked, “who among you wants this bill?” Everyone raised their hands.

He then folded the bill in half. Again he asked, “who wants it?” And again, everyone raised their hands.

He once again folded it and asked the same. Still, everyone wanted it.

Then he unfolded the bill, slowly crumpled it and placed it in his wallet. “Now, who wants it?” he asked. And still, he got the same response.

One’s value is not diminished by status. Our worth remains intact despite challenges. We may feel broken, beaten, or defeated, but our importance should not be taken for granted. Let us not allow failures to overcome our power.
